It’s incidences like these that shroud the future we inhabit in into darkness. I can only allude to songs about peace and love during these times. John Lennon’s ‘Imagine,’ Burt Bacharach’s ‘What the World Needs Now,’ Bob Marley’s ‘One Love’ and the playlist goes on.
Despite these actions of atrocity and crimes against humanity, I’m a steadfast believer in mankind and its potential for goodness. One act of malice does not define a particular species - I think of these acts of terror as anomalies under extraordinary cases.
No matter how fucked up a person’s choices and courses of actions are, I would like to point to the COLLECTIVE failures of institutions. It is so easy to point to a target. However, delegating blame on one another only breeds anger, hate, revenge and thus, further propelling atrocities. I believe it is better to adopt the philosophy of WE - WE have failed, WE have to take better, preemptive measures, WE must rise. By recognizing the collective failures of society, I think we can correct wrongs and uphold our resolve for justice. For what is justice without faith? Faith in us, faith in them, faith in society. Prayers and one love y’all.
